Bradley County Commission approves chair, vice chair, routine consent items and two procurement resolutions

At its Sept. 2 meeting the Bradley County Commission elected Thomas L. Crye chair and Tim Mason vice chair, approved minutes and a consent agenda, authorized a $26,693 HVAC replacement for the Juvenile Court and approved a five-year fiber services agreement for Parks & Recreation at $207.97 per month.
The Bradley County Commission on Sept. 2 elected Thomas L. Crye as chair and Tim Mason as vice chair, approved routine business and adopted two procurement resolutions.
County Clerk Donna A. Simpson opened nominations. Commissioner Mike Hughes nominated Thomas L. Crye for chair; with no further nominations the Commission voted to elect Crye by acclamation (12–0; 2 absent). Commissioner Howard L. Thompson nominated Tim Mason for vice chair; the Commission elected Mason unanimously.
The Commission approved the Aug. 18, 2025 meeting minutes (motion by Commissioner Mike Hughes; second by Commissioner Bobby Goins) and adopted the consent agenda, which included three surplus/disposal requests from the Road and Fire departments and a slate of notary appointments presented by the County Clerk.
On formal procurement items, the Commission approved Resolution 2025-35 authorizing the County Mayor to negotiate and enter into an agreement with Thomas Heating & Air Conditioning to remove and replace one 15‑ton gas HVAC unit on the roof of the Bradley County Juvenile Court/Detention Center for an amount not to exceed $26,693.00 (moved by Commissioner Howard L. Thompson; seconded by Commissioner Bobby Goins). The roll call shows one recorded as "Passed" for that item; the stated tally in the minutes is 11 For, 0 Opposed, 1 Recorded as 'Passed', 2 Absent; the resolution text is attached to the meeting record.
The Commission also approved Resolution 2025-36 authorizing a five‑year master services agreement with Cleveland Utilities Authority to provide fiber optic internet services for the Parks and Recreation Department (Bradley County Parks and Recreation Office, Recreational Park and Elrod Park) at $207.97 per month (moved by Commissioner Cindy Slater; seconded by Commissioner Bill Winters). That resolution is recorded as an attachment.
