County mayor: Minnis Road fire facility parking project underway; commissioners note roadway improvements

County Mayor D. Gary Davis reported to the Bradley County Commission on Sept. 22 that the Minnis Road Fire Facility parking-lot project is underway.
The announcement, made during a 7:00 p.m. work session at the Bradley County Courthouse Commission Room, signals active county capital work on emergency services facilities that county leaders say will support local response capacity. "The Minnis Road Fire Facility parking lot project is underway," County Mayor D. Gary Davis said in his update to the commission.
Vice Chairman Tim Mason thanked Tennessee Department of Transportation Supervisor Grady Patterson for clearing sight-line impediments at the intersection of Jenkins Road and North Lee Highway, a change Mason said has improved safety at that crossing. Commissioner Bill Winters said the recently added extra lane on Highway 60 has been a benefit to the area.
The session included no formal votes or motions related to the projects; the reports were informational. The commission’s next scheduled voting session is Oct. 6, 2025, when any required contractual approvals or budget actions would be considered.
