The Orange County Board of Elections voted unanimously Jan. 13 to relocate the Efland precinct Election Day polling location from the Efland Ruritan Club to the Efland-Cheeks Community Center effective immediately.
Director Rachel Raper reviewed the offices rationale for the change, saying the community center offered greater facility consistency, potential cost savings, voter familiarity and logistical advantages. She outlined planned voter-notification efforts, including a bright orange postcard mailing and a newspaper notice.
Elvira Mebane moved the motion to relocate the polling place and Ann Brooks seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The director said the office will send a letter thanking the Efland Ruritan Club for serving as a prior voting location. The decision takes effect immediately and will be reflected in official voter materials ahead of the March 3, 2026 Statewide Primary and Orange County Schools Board of Education election.
