River Ridge supervisor resigns; board outlines process to fill Seat 1

The River Ridge Community Development District accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman (Seat 1, term expiring Nov. 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting and outlined steps to solicit candidates for the unexpired term.
Mrs. Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. Board members said Mr. Gilman had represented The Meadows for eight years and agreed to seek candidates by e‑blasting residents; the Board directed Mr. Long and The Meadows’ POA manager to notify residents about the vacancy, candidate qualifications and to ask interested residents to submit a resume or letter of interest before the next meeting.
Because the vacancy will be filled by appointment rather than election, the Board plans to include candidate materials in the next meeting package and will administer the oath of office to any appointee at a later date. The Board voted to accept the resignation on a motion by Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Robert Twombly; the motion passed unanimously among supervisors present.
No appointment was made at the Aug. 27 meeting; staff will circulate vacancy information and place candidate submissions on a future agenda.
