The Carmel Clay Schools Board of Trustees approved a series of routine and substantive actions during its meeting:
- Consent agenda (items 3.2–3.10): The board approved personnel, claims, payroll, gift applications, obsolete equipment and several construction change orders for Carmel High School projects (including a $357,000 change order for the stadium). Mr. McMichael clarified an earlier vendor estimate and explained the larger change order components. Approved, voice vote, motion carries 5–0.
- Policy 4210 (wireless and electronic devices): The board adopted policy 4210 to comply with SEA78, which requires personal wireless devices be powered off and stored away during instructional time. Administration will publish an FAQ and communicate changes to families before school starts. Approved, voice vote, motion carries 5–0.
- Temporary easement and management/use agreement: The board approved a management and use agreement and a temporary easement permitting the Veterans Greenway to run through Odum Woods; the district retains ownership and the right to repurpose the land for school needs. Approved, voice vote, motion carries 5–0.
- Appointment: The board appointed Miss Christina Wheeler as the Indiana School Boards Association delegate and legislative liaison for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027. Approved, voice vote, motion carries 5–0.
Each of these actions was presented with staff explanation on scope and fiscal impacts where relevant; when questions arose the board requested additional budget visibility and said it would continue oversight during the next budget cycle.
