The Klamath County Board of Commissioners approved a contractor change order June 25 that raised the invoice for the Wren Drive property cleanup to $28,800.
Terry Wells, property manager, told the Board that Elite Excavation’s original bid of $24,000 for the Wren Drive cleanup increased after additional trash and a second RV appeared overnight. Elite Excavation submitted a change order request initially quoted at $4,800, later clarified as $4,500 plus an additional $300 for further trash dumped the following day, bringing the total invoice to $28,800. The contractor completed the work before the change order was presented to the Board.
Commissioner Nichols moved to approve the change order and Commissioner Minty seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The Board recorded that the change order exceeded the liaison’s approval limit, which is why it was brought before the Board for authorization.
The meeting record does not show who (if anyone) will pursue recovery of costs for the additional dumping or whether the county will pursue reimbursement from the property owner or responsible parties. The decision authorizes payment of the completed work under the amended invoice.
