New Boston advisory group says station about 95% complete, schedules June 20 dedication and ends its work

He said construction retainage and outstanding contractor invoices amount to about $400,000 needed to finish exterior punch-list items.
"Everything has to be completed by June 30," the presenter said, and he told contractors the site must be handed over by June 12 so the committee can hold a planned dedication and open house on June 20. The committee discussed a proposed 10 a.m. kickoff for the ceremony and options for managing parking and crowds.
Committee members detailed several of the remaining technical fixes: much of the outstanding work is exterior and weather-dependent, landscapings previously applied failed to germinate and will be re-seeded, and snow shedding this winter damaged roof vents and the decontamination area. As a result, members said landscaping funds were reallocated to install seven or eight snow guards in strategic locations on the metal roof.
The presenter also confirmed a cost-saving decision to pull irrigation from the 9/11 memorial tree and other front-yard plantings while prioritizing structural and safety-related items.
On committee business, members questioned whether the advisory group should continue now that construction is nearly complete. One member said the committee "has run its course," and the Chair stated that this would be the panel's final meeting. The Chair and members exchanged thanks for the volunteer work and community participation the facility has enabled.
The committee approved the minutes from Jan. 21 (a motion to accept the minutes was recorded; the transcript does not capture a clear, contemporaneous second or a roll-call vote) and the meeting was adjourned.
Next steps: contractors were given a June 12 "drop" date to finish work ahead of a June 20 dedication; no additional formal actions to continue the advisory committee were recorded in the transcript.
