The Herriman City Safety Enforcement Area board approved a set of resolutions to adopt a proposed tax rate, an interim FY2027 budget and an updated property-tax impact schedule after a staff presentation. Kyle presented certified-rate and proposed-rate calculations and illustrated household and business impacts using an illustrative average property value.
Kyle told the board the certified tax rate for 2026 in the safety enforcement area is 0.001423 and estimated the revenue at approximately $10,731,595. He told board members that growth-related needs of $512,970 were driving a potential increase to a tax rate of 0.001491; the board will consider any final increase at the truth-and-taxation hearing in August.
Kyle further noted, using an illustrative average home value of $640,000, that the proposed increase would amount to approximately $23.93 per year for that residence and about $43.52 for a business. He said the board's philosophy is to use tax increases or other sources to cover inflationary costs while reserving growth revenue for growth-related expenses; if the tax increase is not approved, growth-related hires would be constrained.
The board moved and approved Resolution R-26-05 adopting the proposed tax rate, then approved R26-06 to adopt the interim budget and R26-07 adopting the updated impact schedule. In the transcript, board members recorded affirmative votes and the motions were declared carried.
