The petitioner told the board the housing market has been slow but is improving and said the developer has about 45 presales across projects. “We gave the city a $156,000 or something,” the petitioner said, describing the developer’s financial commitment and plans to purchase the property outright and fund infrastructure until tax‑increment financing becomes available.
Commissioner Marco Rodriguez, economic development, recommended a one‑year extension to allow the rezoning and site work to pass through the planning process and the common council. The board instead adopted a six‑month extension after a motion to that effect was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The extension requires the petitioner to return in six months with an update; board members noted the developer may seek another extension if progress remains incomplete.
The board took no additional action on the project tonight.
