Green Isle council approves used rescue truck purchase, door repair and several routine items

The Green Isle City Council approved a pack of operational and maintenance items, including funding to outfit a used rescue truck found by the fire department, a city-hall door replacement bid and several contract and service approvals.
Kip, representing the fire department, described locating a 2021 GMC one-ton pickup with a rescue box that had previously been salvaged for rear-door damage. Kip said the truck passed inspections, carries a 90-day parts warranty, and could be outfitted at substantially lower total cost than buying a new apparatus. "We're proposing ... spending up to $100,000" to equip the vehicle, he said, with the fire board and partner townships sharing equipment costs and the city covering roughly 60% of the local portion.
Council approved a motion to fund the city's share (about $36,000) so the department can proceed with the purchase agreement, subject to city-attorney review of the paperwork. After the meeting, the purchased vehicle will be available outside for council inspection.
Other routine approvals included:
- A Town and Country Glass proposal to replace the west door at city hall for $5,160 (includes $30 for tinted glass); council approved the contract.
- A billing-timing amendment to a contract with ABDO that changes when certain items are billed but does not alter total contract amounts; council approved the change pending city-attorney review.
- A park-board recommendation to pay the person preparing the city newsletter $100 per quarter (not a new hire); council approved the quarterly stipend.
- Removal of a dying green ash at the corner of McR and Purnell and stump removal, contracted to L&P Tree Service for $2,800; council approved the work.
All listed motions passed by voice vote with no recorded objections. Several items were described by staff as time-sensitive for operational or safety reasons; city attorney review was requested where contract language or public-notice procedures apply.
