EDA reports progress on TAP crosswalk LOI and arts festival grants

GREEN ISLE — The EDA received updates Dec. 1 on several grant pursuits and community programs, including a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) letter of intent for three pedestrian crosswalks and a closeout requirement for a regional arts grant.
Staff said the TAP LOI has been submitted through District 7 and they are awaiting an invite to apply for the full grant; because the city’s population is below certain thresholds, staff noted the county will likely have to serve as fiscal agent for the TAP award if the application proceeds. Staff also said a Safe Streets and Roads for All federal grant application remains pending and that federal delays have likely postponed notification cycles.
On community programming, staff said the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council grant supporting the Clover Lead concert series needs to be closed out before applying for the next cycle (deadline Feb. 1). The Heritage Festival was awarded a grant and volunteers are being solicited, with a tentative date for next year around Sept. 26.
A staff member said Brian will present a crosswalk study at the next city council meeting; members asked staff to track any required matching funds and fiscal-agency arrangements.
The EDA had no formal votes on grant awards at the meeting; staff will follow up with the council and return with any application specifics and next steps.
