Sumner County committee schedules July 20 meet-and-greet for candidate referred by consultant

The Sumner County Financial Management Committee on June 25 agreed to hold a special-called meeting on July 20 to allow commissioners and staff to meet a candidate the county mayor referred through Sumner Local Government Consulting.

County Mayor said he had received a late referral from the consulting firm and urged committee members to review an interview link he emailed. "If you check that email, you will see a link for an interview. I encourage you to go listen to the interview," the mayor said, and added he planned to bring the candidate, referred in the meeting as Mr. Trevor, before presenting a recommendation to the full commission.

Committee members said they wanted to replicate the prior open-house process used for earlier candidates, giving the applicant time with finance staff and committee members before a full commission agenda placement. Members discussed timing and whether to wait until the candidate can be released from other job commitments; the mayor said he would confirm the candidate's availability before finalizing dates.

The committee set a special-called Financial Management meeting for 6:30 p.m. on July 20 to host the meet-and-greet and to allow the item to be prepared for the next commission meeting cycle. The committee chair and members indicated agreement with the timing and discussed the option of a special call if needed to expedite the matter.

The committee did not take a final personnel appointment at the June 25 meeting; the schedule-setting action was procedural and intended to facilitate staff interviews and committee review ahead of any formal nomination to the full commission.
