The Prairie City City Council voted on Feb. 27 to hold a budget workshop at its March 12 meeting to continue review of the FY25 and FY26 budgets.
Councilmember Derek Ingle made the motion to schedule the workshop and Phil Holland seconded; the vote was unanimous. During the CIP discussion, Library Director Sue Ponder asked the council to consider repaving the City Hall parking lot sooner than planned because the surface is deteriorating. City Administrator Jerry Moore said he will make the discussed changes to the draft CIP and return it for possible approval at the March meeting. No formal CIP action was taken at the Feb. 27 meeting.
Council was also informed that some FY24 negative balances were caused by missed funding transfers for completed projects; staff said they are addressing the issue as part of the budget review process.
