Silver Creek Township to pursue road maintenance, county grant and follow up on nuisance property

At its July 16 meeting Silver Creek Township supervisors directed staff to prioritize several road-maintenance items, pursue a county grant for Gowan & 134th and investigate a neighbor complaint about a property on 150th Street NW.
The maintenance report listed remaining shouldering work on 119th and 120th streets and on all dead ends; a plan to clean ditches on 95th Street NW; an oil leak on township equipment (Ziegler) that needs attention; and the need to obtain quotes for tree trimming. Maintenance also reported contractor-related damage to a chip-seal surface on 155th Street and said it would document the damage.
Residents had asked the board to consider chip sealing on 105th Street and Amery Avenue. Supervisors said they will review those requests during a planned road tour and discuss them during budget deliberations; Chairman Chris Newman and Road Authority Supervisor Sandy Forsman will first review the township’s existing pit (referred to as Starry) and report back to the full board in late August or early September.
On funding, the minutes state Wright County has approved grant money for townships to use on projects including Gowan & 134th, but the township must submit a formal application to access the funds. Maintenance lead Chris Klein will assemble the required information and work with Deputy Clerk Julie Urbatch and Wright County’s Elizabeth Karels to complete the application by the end of the grant period.
Neighbors also raised safety and health concerns about 3864 150th St NW, citing a blocked driveway that could create a fire hazard, reported rodent activity and accumulation of junk moved from Maple Lake. The township agreed to take photographs, contact the property owner and involve Wright County if additional enforcement is required.
The board did not take immediate enforcement action at the meeting; it directed maintenance staff to document conditions and report back.
