Silver Creek Township board approves claims, extends hiring ad and affirms election judges

Vice Chairman Mike Helman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; Chairman Chris Newman arrived at 7:02 p.m. After a brief open forum with no public comments, Supervisor Brandon Geyen moved to approve the agenda; Supervisor Sandy Forsman seconded and the motion carried 3-0 while the chairman was absent.
The board approved the July 9, 2024 minutes (motion by Geyen; second by Forsman; carried 3-0). After Chairman Newman arrived, the board approved the list of claims and disbursements (motion by Helman; second by Forsman; carried 4-0). The Clerk/Treasurer presented fund balances: General Fund $158,288.11; Road & Bridge $601,545.96; Fire Fund $78,766.86; total R&B/GF $759,834.07; Contingency $9,646.46; ARPA Fund $13,772.51; Checking $24,677.64. Chairman Newman moved to accept the Clerk/Treasurer report; Supervisor Brandon Geyen seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
On personnel, Chairman Newman moved to allow the current hiring advertisement to run one more week if responses warrant and authorized up to $200 for that additional placement; the board approved the motion 4-0. Supervisor Sandy Forsman moved to approve the list of election judges contingent on their confirmed willingness to serve; Supervisor Mike Helman seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
The board adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
