At its March 16 meeting the Maquoketa City Council recorded a number of formal actions by roll call, most of them unanimous. Key approvals included:
- Consent agenda: minutes (March 2, 2026), bills payable through March 16 (transcribed as $372,754.7), February financial reports and several liquor and cigarette-permit renewals — approved by roll call.
- Intergovernmental agreements: annual extensions for fire-protection contracts covering Brandon Township and Farmers Creek Township — both approved.
- Equipment and small purchases: state-contract purchase of a Toro 5000-series mower for wastewater for $13,950.30 (transcribed); purchase of a Pitney Bowes Relay 4500 folder/insert machine for $15,846.71 (transcribed); both approved.
- Other approvals: setting a public hearing for Big Country Properties LLC zoning (April 6), and approving the Makoka Speedway Fairgrounds event application with typical evening end times (mostly 11 p.m., some midnight exceptions) — all carried on roll call.
Where staff cited specific dollar figures in the meeting transcript those figures are included above; staff packets and signed contracts should be consulted for final numbers. The council adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
Next steps: staff will publish the signed resolutions, packet materials and contract documents for public review and will post the meeting minutes.
