The Rushford Village City Council on March 3 approved a 2026 request for quotes seeking up to 3,000 cubic yards of Class 2 crushed rock to be delivered, spread on roads or stockpiled for winter use.
Clerk Mary Miner presented the notice, which specifies rock must meet Minnesota Department of Transportation requirements and be billed directly by the rock company when delivered to third parties. The notice asks bidders to provide prices per ton and per cubic yard, a Certificate of Insurance and to submit quotes to the city clerk by 7 p.m. on April 21, 2026.
Council members discussed timing for filling the city’s rock shed. Miner said the shed is about half full; Public Works Supervisor Darrin Dessner estimated it would take roughly 10 loads to refill the shed. Council members suggested different firm deadlines—Mike Ebner proposed Oct. 15 while Rick Ruberg suggested Sept. 30—citing past late deliveries. "The rock received last year was delivered in November and was wet so it froze," Ebner said, urging clearer timetables.
Pettit recommended starting vendor outreach earlier in the season to avoid delays. Council ultimately approved the rock bid request as presented; the motion was made by Robert Hart and seconded by Mike Ebner and was carried. Miner will run the ad in the Fillmore County Journal, post to the city website and send letters to local quarry firms.
