Commissioners approve MicroVote and PSC Fiber agreements; veterans office and DAR marker updates noted

The Dubois County Commissioners approved routine administrative agreements and heard updates on veterans services and a DAR marker design during their March 2 meeting.
Commissioner Chad A. Blessinger presented a four‑year maintenance agreement for the MicroVote 2026 Infinity Voting System at $15,000 per year running Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2029; the board approved the agreement by motion. Blessinger and Auditor Sandra L. Morton also presented an Ethernet transport and internet services agreement with PSC Fiber for a three‑year term. The PSC agreement calls for 500 Mbps Ethernet transport at each location for $1,500 per month and 250 Mbps symmetrical internet access for $800 per month; the board approved the agreement after directing that the County's required contract language be added.
Blessinger reported volunteers are assisting the Veteran Services Office following the recent resignation of the Veteran Services Officer and said interviews to fill the position will be arranged soon. He provided data showing a county veteran population of 2,186 in 2024 and total direct and indirect veteran‑benefit expenditures reaching $23,613,890 in 2026. The Veteran Services Office will be closed April 14, 2026 for Southwest District training.
Commissioner Nick Hostetter said the Courthouse DAR America 250 Patriots Marker signage is in progress and that the group is coordinating final design options with other entities.
