Dr. Norma Kreilein, M.D., appeared via Teams to describe pollution and public-safety worries she associates with the proposed AES Solar Battery Storage Facility in the Holland area and said the concerns are "serious," presenting banners for board review. Commissioner Chad Blessinger reported a recent meeting with EDP Solar regarding a proposed Phase II expansion (moving south to the Patoka River) and said that, during the current moratorium, the consensus was not to take approvals. Blessinger also announced an AES Crossvine Solar Project open house scheduled for Jan. 21, 2026, at the Huntingburg Event Center (5:30–7:30 p.m.) to allow public information and questions.
Separately, Blessinger said he had reached out to the Indiana Office of Energy Development and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to request guidance on installation requirements for battery storage facilities and is awaiting their responses. Public commenters referenced a Pike County battery storage tour and urged caution. No formal approvals or denials were made at the meeting; commissioners recorded concerns and scheduled or awaited informational next steps.
