County awards contracts for Bridges 107, 240 and Bridge 78 after bid openings

Dubois County commissioners accepted staff recommendations to award low bids for two sets of bridge work after opening quotes and bids during their March 2 meeting.
Engineers opened quotes for deck overlay work on Bridges 107 and 240 at 8:50 a.m.; County Engineer Levi Leffert recommended awarding that work to C&R Construction, the low bidder, at a cost of $157,874.40. The commissioners voted unanimously to accept the recommendation.
At 9:00 a.m. the county opened bids for Bridge 78; staff recommended and the board approved awarding the Bridge 78 contract to Blankenberger Brothers, Inc., the low bidder, at $409,367.36, with the motion carried unanimously.
Leffert said Bridge 116 had been closed Feb. 9 for beam and deck replacement and reopened Feb. 27 after the work was completed ahead of schedule. He also described plans to begin deck overlay work on Bridges 107 and 240 in spring 2026 with concurrent closures expected for about 30–35 days for each structure.
No objections or remonstrations were recorded during the public bid openings; the commissioners took the awards under advisement and then approved them later in the meeting on staff recommendation.
