Commissioners note road maintenance, approve consent items and hold closed session on Matriarch litigation

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners handled routine business Oct. 9, including public comment on road maintenance, a partial approval of the consent agenda and a closed session to discuss pending litigation.
In public comment, Commissioner Scott Miller noted that "the beet harvest has begun and that 5,000 yards of gravel have been crushed," and the board discussed a plan to place gravel and pit run on Bluewater Road. Commissioner Bill Bullock offered three county employees and an additional truck to assist with gravel work in Miller's district.
At 10:00 a.m. the board moved into a closed session to discuss Matriarch litigation; the motion to close was made by Commissioner Bill Bullock, seconded by Commissioner Scott Miller, and the motion carried. The board later voted to reopen the meeting.
The consent agenda included a Purchase Request for Contract Snow Plowing Services up to $8,000 (as needed), a Procurement Policy Variance Request for Roberts Water and Sewer in the amount of $140,945.53, and prior minutes. Commissioner Scott Miller moved to approve the consent agenda except for the Procurement Policy Variance Request for Edith Bolzer; Commissioner Bill Bullock seconded and the motion carried. The minutes do not include a roll-call tally for the consent vote.
The day closed with a noon Board of Health meeting that adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
