Safety committee: Safe Driving Program paused while county explores fleet management; CPR trainings scheduled

The Carbon County safety committee updated the Board of Commissioners on workplace safety matters during the Oct. 16 meeting.
HR Director Kate Asbury said the county has put the timeline for a planned Safe Driving Program on hold while exploring potential fleet management solutions that might incorporate driver safety measures. Asbury also reported an employee accident that was reviewed by the committee and summarized the completion of building safety inspections.
The committee announced scheduled CPR trainings for employees at the Bridger, Joliet, and Red Lodge road shops. Representatives from Montana State Fund, Troy Meier and Mark Rosenleaf, attended and participated in the safety meeting alongside Fairground Manager Sterling Murphy, Public Health Director Erin Cross, Maintenance Coordinator Scott Wilson, Treasurer Clerk Denise Metzsch, and Environmental Health Lead Barbara Krizek.
Asbury noted dates are set for upcoming safety meetings and that October Safety Awareness resources are available via provided links. No policy votes or new funding commitments were recorded in the meeting minutes on Oct. 16.
