Carbon County commissioners approve consent agenda, discuss road purchasing rules and hold closed session on litigation

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners approved a consent agenda on Sept. 11 that included a county road-approach approval for a steel culvert on Elbow Creek Road and an action to fix and authorize budgets for Joliet Elementary and Joliet High School.
Commissioner Scott Miller moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Bill Bullock seconded and the motion carried. Deputy Treasurer and Superintendent of Schools Administrator Michaela Tucker joined the meeting for the consent items.
Administrative Officer Angela Newell briefed the board on Road and Bridge administrative procedures, explaining that each county commissioner serves as road supervisor for their district. Newell outlined purchasing authorities that cover routine maintenance, logging maintenance and prioritization of projects and said she will prepare revisions for a version 2 of the procedures. The board discussed options for the most efficient methods for annual district reports.
At 10:00 a.m. County Attorney Alex Nixon joined the meeting and the board voted to close the meeting to discuss two litigation updates; the board later voted to reopen the meeting. The minutes record the motions and that the motions carried but provide no details about the subject matter of the litigation updates.
