Commissioners approve Purdue opioid settlement, order road viewers report; multiple consent items pass

Fire Warden Tom Kohley raised concerns that utilities in the South Block might run through the alley and asked the board to ensure no utility infrastructure would be affected. Commissioner Scott Miller moved to order a Road Viewers Report with Commissioner Bill Bullock and Red Lodge Surveying as the appointed viewers; Bullock seconded. The minutes record that the motion was carried and that a public hearing on the resolution and the Road Viewers Report is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2025. The minutes do not record a vote tally.
Later in the morning, Commissioner Bill Bullock moved to approve the "Purdue Opioid Direct Settlement Agreement in the State of Montana." Commissioner Scott Miller seconded and the motion carried. The minutes record approval but do not list a settlement amount or a roll-call tally.
At 10:30 a.m. the board approved consent-agenda items after Deputy Treasurer and schools administrator Michaela Tucker joined the meeting. The consent items approved included Fromberg K-12 and Bridger K-12 budget reports; reprinted checks to the Extension Office and Carbon County 4-H Council totaling $677.48; a Carbon County 4-H Council invoice for $1,412.44; a Ronning Auto Truck & Tractor invoice for $320.00 and a related procurement-policy-variance request for $320.00; and county claim approvals for the accounting period of September 2025. Commissioner Bill Bullock made the motion to approve the consent agenda and Commissioner Scott Miller seconded; the motion carried.
In a separate, brief motion, Bullock moved and Miller seconded to designate Commissioner Scott Blain as the county's representative for Matriarch Mediation; that motion also carried.
The minutes list the actions taken and the attendees but do not include recorded vote tallies or settlement amounts. The board adjourned at 1:00 p.m.; the minutes were attested by Clerk Gracey Everett.
