Property owner outlines vehicle counts; council discusses storage and fencing options

Melbourne — During new business at the May 14 council meeting, property owner Dave Wermager described how vehicles are being stored at properties he owns and said he plans to reorganize and remove junk within the next 30 days.
Wermager said he had "4 vehicles around the church area, 2 on Main Street and 2 behind that building," added that six vehicles are visible at the brick building (the limit there), and said about 10 vehicles were at the red buildings. He said non-operable vehicles would be stored behind existing fencing and that Meckley’s is expected to crush some junk.
Council members asked clarifying questions and indicated general agreement with Wermager’s proposed cleanup, but no motion or ordinance change was made. Resident Dan Smith commented that there are many areas that need cleanup in town. Attorney Sharon Greer suggested moving on to the next agenda item, and the discussion ended without formal action.
