Melbourne City Council voted to investigate a used sickle mower and, if it is not suitable, to buy a new unit for about $5,000.
Public works presented photos showing the old mower’s condition and the lagoon area after two months without mowing. Councilman Gibbs moved to inspect the used machine found online; Councilman C. White seconded. If the used mower is not in good condition, the motion authorizes purchasing the new mower discussed in last month’s meeting for roughly $5,000. The roll call vote was recorded as 3 ayes.
Council directed staff to continue spraying the lagoon rock area rather than mowing it. Clerk Pothast noted $8,000 is available in the budget line for large equipment replacement and can be used for this purchase.
