Finance committee enforces 45-day travel policy, approves late Election Commission claim and reviews Kronos timekeeping updates

The Sumner County Financial Management Committee on June 25 discussed internal controls, approved one late travel reimbursement and reviewed time-sheet exceptions as it continues Kronos migrations.
Finance Director Miss Browning told the committee two additional departments were migrated to the Kronos timekeeping system and that General Sessions Judge 1 is scheduled to go live at the end of the month. She said county auditors are conducting preliminary work on the FY26 budget and will return in the fall to complete the process.
Browning flagged a travel reimbursement for the Election Commission that was submitted past the county 45-day policy; she said this was the sixth late submission for that department this fiscal year. Members discussed departmental accountability and a plan that repeated late submissions will require review by the financial management committee. A committee member moved to approve the late reimbursement and another seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote with no opposition recorded on the transcript.
The committee also reviewed a time-sheet exception report showing a circuit court clerk submitted a timesheet five minutes late and four employees with missing punches; members questioned whether corrective actions were being reported by supervisors or individual employees. The law director said a policy subcommittee remains unconstituted until an external appointee is provided, and committee members asked staff to ensure corrective-action steps come from supervisors when appropriate.
Chair closed the item with instructions to monitor repeated late travel submissions and to report future exceptions to this committee when patterns emerge.
