The Sumner County Financial Management Committee agreed June 25 to hold a special meet-and-greet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 20 so committee members can interview a candidate identified by a local government consultant.
County Mayor said he received a late report from the consultant that included a potential candidate, referred to in the discussion as "Mr. Trevor," and asked that the committee allow time for finance staff to meet the candidate before the mayor forwards any appointment to the full county commission. The mayor said he intends to follow the same open process used for the previous candidate and will arrange meetings between the candidate and the finance team.
The committee discussed timing and logistics; members suggested an open-house-style interview and confirmed that, if the candidate is ready, the county commission could take up the appointment in August. Chair confirmed the committee will run its recommendation through the committee process before placing the item on the commission agenda. The committee scheduled a special meeting for July 20 to host the meet-and-greet and left the final decision and any potential formal nomination to the commission.
