Southampton backs reconsideration of Hawkins Road speed limit and residents press for more permanent speed signs

Separately, the Committee approved Resolution 2018-82 to apply for New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) grant funds for Hawkins Road Improvements Phase II. The resolution authorizes staff to pursue state grant funding as part of planned roadwork; the meeting record does not specify grant award status or timelines.
The Committee did not record a formal timetable for installation of additional signs during the Sept. 18 meeting. Residents asked the Committee to provide follow-up on whether signs will be purchased and where they would be installed.
The Committee also approved a related grant application for Retreat and Ridge Road intersection improvements (Resolution 2018-89) during the consent agenda.
