Village Administrator Joe Allen told the South Bloomfield council on Dec. 1 that public works crews finished leaf pickup and have prepared for a possible snow event. He announced the hiring of Calvin Eden as Chief Operator of utilities and said he expects to put a flow equalization project out to bid this year.
Allen said he has received only one quote for walk‑path lighting and is working to obtain additional bids. He reported Boss Excavating is addressing punch‑list items for the U.S.‑23 project and that Clearwater Drive work will start soon. On economic development, Allen said DHL is back as a potential developer in Ashville; in discussion he said he is looking to have additional turn lanes added at the U.S.‑23 and U.S.‑752 intersection to accommodate development traffic.
During public feedback, resident Juanita Langbein asked whether the Northup and Union intersection will be fixed. Allen said the intersection will be paved when the parking lot for the new building at that corner is paved. Resident Bing Crosby raised concern that missing stop‑line striping makes it hard to know where to stop; Police Chief Michael Maynard explained how the department enforces stop signs.
These project updates and residents' concerns were presented as informational reports; council members did not vote to change project scope at the meeting.
