South Bloomfield police present awards, report fundraiser and prepare for possible snow emergency

Chief Maynard presented certificates of merit to Officer Erik Flores and Officer Ryan McCoy and awarded the Chief's Citation to Lieutenant Sara Hempstead. He told the council the department's November statistics were reviewed and said, "Topple the truck this year collected over 1,200 toys and $2,700 in cash donations." He also reported that a new cruiser had been dropped off at Parr for outfitting.
On operational issues, Maynard said he spoke with an Ohio Department of Transportation representative about improvements to the turn light at US‑752 and US‑23 and that residents should see corrected timing. He warned a snow emergency may occur that night and said third‑shift officers would be knocking on doors to ask residents to move cars so village crews can clear streets.
The presentation included the swearing‑in of new auxiliary officer Benjamin Barker by Mayor Aaron Thomas. The council recognized the awards and operational updates during the meeting, which adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
