City Administrator Lisa Kotter told the Red Oak City Council on Nov. 17 that staff has been engaged in talks with neighboring communities about emergency medical services costs and is advancing water and sewer planning efforts. Kotter also reported on an EPA grant contract, the Rural Housing Innovation Grant, a floodplain study and a Safe Streets for All grant; she said recent health-insurance plan changes are expected to save the city money.
During department reports, Kathi Most delivered the library quarterly report. Rome Ozuna, chair of the Animal Control and Welfare Ad Hoc Committee, told the council the committee will be requesting a community survey to inform its work.
The council discussed stockpiled excess city dirt at the city shop and the adjacent townhome project and decided not to sell the material at this time. Mayor Shawnna L. Silvius reported on her trip to the NREDA and noted that the townhomes’ first buildings are opening.
