Residents raise concerns about truck signage and repeated break-ins; city to refer issues to county where applicable

Two members of the public addressed the Douglasville City Council on June 1 with neighborhood safety and traffic-sign concerns.
A resident identified as Miss Cindy asked about a recently posted sign on Chapel Hill Road near Target that appears to prohibit trucks "over six wheels," asking whether trucks are prohibited from that road. The mayor and staff said they would have public safety review the sign and check whether the sign was installed by the county.
Brenda Young Edwards of Beaver Drive told the council she has experienced repeated break-ins, alleged that home surveillance systems and phones have been tampered with, and said she has reported the incidents to the sheriff's office but believes investigations have not fully resolved the problem. "We've spent a lot of money on multiple cameras and we've taken them back and gotten more and each and every time they're altered," Edwards said.
Mayor Rochelle Robinson responded that Ms. Edwards' property appears to be outside city limits and that staff would collect her information and forward it to the county for follow-up. "Staff will take some information from you after the meeting and we will connect you with the county and make certain that your information is passed on with the county," Robinson said.
City staff did not announce specific enforcement actions during the meeting; they said they will investigate the signage question and serve as a conduit to county officials for the public-safety concern where jurisdictional boundaries apply.
