Other members said they had heard positive reports and emphasized that the city can tighten oversight without immediately replacing the contractor. S4 explained the city receives quarterly lists of finaled permits and suggested improved communication and audit steps to confirm inspections are occurring and being recorded.
The council voted to approve the three-year contract. Councilors asked staff to require clearer inspection reporting from the contractor and to audit inspection activity going forward.
