Douglasville proclaims Municipal Court Clerk’s Week; court administrator highlights amnesty program

Mayor Rochelle Robinson read a proclamation on June 1 recognizing June 8–12, 2026 as Municipal Court Clerk’s Week and presented it to court administrator Angie Cochran and municipal court staff.
The proclamation cited the role municipal court clerks play in preserving public safety and the city’s commitment to an impartial judiciary operating under the uniform rules of municipal court. Cochran told the council the city recently ran an amnesty program aimed at helping residents get legal to drive again. "We had over a thousand people come in and got their license reinstated," Cochran said, describing the program as a way to help people return to work and support their families.
Cochran also said the court will adopt a new courtware system this year to reduce paper processing and expand hands-free payment options. The mayor and council thanked Cochran and court staff and posed for a group photo; a reception was announced to follow the meeting.
No policy changes or new ordinances were adopted; the event was a formal recognition and a public update on an existing program.
