Wellesley trustees accept donations, grant limited room exception and discuss safety-badge rollout and printing policy

The Wellesley Free Library Board of Trustees accepted three donations, granted a limited meeting-room exception to the Wellesley Gardener’s Guild, and discussed staff safety badges and a public-printing policy at its March 31, 2026 meeting.
Library Director Jamie Jurgensen presented three gifts for Trustee acceptance: a $500 donation from Wayne Everett to be deposited in the Director’s Fund and two gift certificates — $25 from the Linden Store and $35 from Quebrada — intended for prizes in the WFL Writing Contest. Diane Savage, secretary, moved and Aunoy Banerjee seconded acceptance of the three gifts; the motion passed unanimously.
Trustees reviewed a Wellesley Gardener’s Guild request to use the Arnold Room at no charge for ten 2026–2027 Executive Board meetings. Noting the Guild’s contributions to beautifying library planters and the constraints of the library’s Meeting Room Policy, the trustees approved an exception allowing four meetings at no charge in FY27 (Diane Savage moved; Maria Ashbrook seconded). The minutes record the approved number as four, which differs from the Guild’s initial ten-meeting request.
Jurgensen also told trustees that Centegix safety-badge training for supervisors, IT and administrative support staff occurred that day; she described the badges and said badges will be worn by staff in public areas after full staff training is completed, with implementation expected by early to mid-May. Jurgensen reported that the library’s second annual Edible Book Festival drew more than 226 attendees during its 2½-hour run.
On printing policy, Jurgensen described constraints — limited printers, limited cash on hand, and limited staff time — that make large print jobs challenging. Trustees reviewed a draft public-printing policy edited by Diane Savage, suggested several changes and asked Jurgensen to return a revised policy for a vote at the next meeting. Chair Marla Robinson said she had received a draft Encroachment Policy from SB Liaison Kenny Largess and that trustees will review that policy at the April meeting.
