Board approves zoning change, 10-year hangar renewal and medical examiner fee adjustment

The Sawyer County Board of Supervisors approved several routine items during its Sept. 19 special meeting.
The board approved minutes from Aug. 15 and Sept. 5, 2024. Supervisor Thomas W. Duffy moved to approve the Aug. 15 minutes, seconded by Supervisor John Righeimer; the motion carried with no negative votes. The Sept. 5 minutes were moved by Supervisor Ron Buckholtz, seconded by Supervisor Stacey Hessel, and also carried without negative votes.
On zoning, county staff presented RZN #24-011, a rezoning request by Jason Turnbull for a 20-acre hobby farm. Supervisor Tweed Shuman moved to approve RZN #24-011 and Supervisor Stacey Hessel seconded; the motion carried without negative vote.
Vice Chair Marc D. Helwig reported the Public Works Committee will hold an airport master plan meeting Oct. 9; the board approved a 10-year hangar extension for David Fandler after a motion by Mr. Helwig and a second from Mr. Buckholtz.
The board also approved a resolution to adjust medical examiner fees. County staff presented the resolution; Supervisor Tweed Shuman moved for approval and Supervisor Marshal Savitski seconded. The resolution passed with no negative votes.
Other committee updates noted included planned fall timber sale bid releases in October, Bayfield County's first carbon credit payment, decreasing jail populations, rising Narcan and ambulance drug costs, and a $15,000 transit budget request for 2025. No formal votes were recorded on those updates.
