At the May 26 meeting the Castle Dale council discussed revisions to the town's short-term rental regulations and agreed to separate rules for commercial and residential properties. Todd circulated a draft that combined commercial and short-term rental provisions; council members said they want separate ordinances.
Council discussion centered on a proposed 500-foot buffer measured from residential property lines; members agreed not to place an ownership cap on short-term rentals located in commercial zones. Kerry said he would research any fire-marshal occupancy limits that could affect how many people may stay in a dwelling and asked staff to consolidate quiet-hours and outdoor-gathering rules into the draft. The council did not vote and deferred further consideration until the next meeting.
The proposal would change local land-use rules and could affect property owners who rent homes for short stays, but the council did not adopt any ordinance at this meeting. Kerry will report back with occupancy-limit information and a revised draft.
