The Waterloo PTO donated $1,500 to help fund the sixth-grade Camp Fitch field trip, the board voted on Monday. The motion to accept the donation carried by roll call.
PTO representative Liz reported the PTO recently held a September meeting at the elementary playground where new families attended, announced a monthly teacher spotlight (this month’s honoree was Miss Mediotti) and confirmed the Scholastic book fair for Oct. 14–16. The PTO also plans a trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 31 with prizes for best-decorated trunks.
Board members and PTO representatives clarified earlier confusion about whether the book fair would coincide with Grandparents Day; the PTO said scheduling the fair separately was intended to avoid putting extra financial burden on grandparents and to gather feedback about future timing.
The donation acceptance will directly support student participation in the Camp Fitch trip; the board did not specify further fundraising targets or remaining costs during the meeting.
