Berkley Agricultural Commission adopts mission statement, plans outreach for Right-to-Farm article

The Berkley Agricultural Commission adopted a final mission statement and arranged outreach ahead of a special town meeting on Nov. 7, 2024.
Harry Harmon presented a final draft of the commission’s mission statement. Ed Harmon moved to accept the statement and Angela Young seconded; the motion was recorded as adopted unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting, members accepted the Oct. 24, 2024 minutes. Ed Harmon moved to accept the prior minutes, with Harry Harmon seconding. Angela Young and George Faria were recorded as voting in favor; Lisa Tetreault recorded an abstention.
During public input and member reports, George Faria said town residents had requested copies of the Right-to-Farm bylaw in advance of the town meeting. The commission noted that the Right-to-Farm article will appear as Article 3 on the special town meeting warrant and agreed to encourage friends, family and neighbors to attend and support the measure. Angela Young said she would post information on the Berkley Facebook page. Young also said she would follow up on a separate matter regarding tractors at the Aggie after receiving no response to earlier inquiries.
With no further discussion, Lisa Tetreault moved to adjourn at 6:35 p.m.; Harry Harmon seconded and the motion passed with all in favor. The commission scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 21, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Planning Board room.
