Berkley Agricultural Commission to refine mission statement, discusses tractors and community outreach

Harry Harmon, member of the Berkley Agricultural Commission, presented a draft mission statement at the Oct. 24 meeting and said he would make suggested edits to visually emphasize key words. Commission members present described the draft as clear and easy to read, and they agreed to circulate the revised version to members who were absent so the commission can vote on a final draft at the Nov. 7 meeting.
During a public-input segment, members revisited a prior suggestion about featuring tractors and other community events. Harry Harmon said he had spoken with a friend named Tyler who did not have a contact for the local tractors that attend the Aggie; Angela Young said she would follow up with her contact to pursue organizers. Harmon also reported meeting a colleague from Stonehill College who works in sustainable agriculture and indicated that the colleague was interested in helping as a resource for the commission.
The meeting included routine procedural actions: Ed Harmon moved to accept the Oct. 10 minutes (seconded by Harry Harmon) and the commission voted unanimously to approve them. With no further discussion, Ed Harmon moved to adjourn at 6:31 p.m., Harry Harmon seconded and the commission adjourned. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room A.
