Silver Creek Township approves clerk remote work, credit card and Amazon account; pauses driveway permits on 148th

Silver Creek Township — At its Aug. 19, 2025 meeting the Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and operational items, including authorizing limited remote work for the clerk and obtaining a township credit card.

Chairman Helman called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and recorded attendance that listed Chairman Helman, Vice Chair Brandon Geyen, Supervisor Sandy Forsman and Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen. The board approved the meeting agenda and a list of claims totaling $92,847.07; both motions were made by Vice Chair Brandon Geyen, seconded by Supervisor Sandy Forsman and carried 3-0.

In the public comment portion of the meeting a resident identified as Johann asked for help locating Monticello football boosters alumni, and a resident named Dan asked when the township’s 2026 road projects would be discussed or made available for public review. Commissioner Darek Vetsch provided county updates about the local impacts of a recently referenced state bill (called the “big beautiful bill” in the minutes), score funding, the county levy, ditch funding and the county land use plan.

On personnel and operations the board voted to allow Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen to work up to four hours per week from home. Chairman Helman moved the measure, Vice Chair Geyen seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. The minutes record this as a formal authorization of a limited remote-work arrangement.

Maintenance items discussed included parking concerns on Amery and 105th, pursuing vacating a narrow end of road by the Lake Ida development, Maple Lake Fire raising questions about the structural integrity of the concrete bridge on 128th, and an agreement to repair the township F-550’s shocks in-house on a rain day.

Under old business the board voted to withhold approval of any driveway permits on 148th until that road is properly realigned with County Road 8. Vice Chair Geyen moved the restriction, Supervisor Forsman seconded and the motion carried 3-0.

In new business the board approved obtaining a Cortrust credit card with a $1,000 monthly limit and creating a township Amazon account; the motions were recorded as carrying 3-0. A motion to adjourn was made later by Nelson, seconded by Forsman, and recorded as carrying 4-0 at 9:20 p.m. The minutes list attendance earlier in the meeting as three supervisors plus the clerk but do not explain Nelson’s role or the change to a 4-0 tally for adjournment.
