Fairborn City School Board approves wide-ranging 2026–27 personnel contracts, step changes and resignations

The Board of Education of the Fairborn City School District voted May 7 to approve a broad slate of personnel actions for the 2026–27 school year, including dozens of limited contracts, step changes and summer transition days for administrators.
Mrs. Webb moved to approve the superintendent’s recommendations and Ms. Landon seconded; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Mrs. Webb, Ms. Landon, Mr. Howard, Mr. Steininger and Board President Katie Mlod voting ‘Yea.’
The board approved one-year limited contracts (Title I tutors and classroom teachers), multiple new three-year limited contracts, renewals for staff holding supplemental or temporary certifications, and several employees receiving step increases. The board also approved up to 10 extra transition days for administrators moving into new roles: Richard O’Bleness (assistant principal, FHS) and Lisa VanHoose (principal, FIS) were approved for up to 10 extra days at their 2025–26 daily rates for specified June–July periods as needed.
The agenda included athletic and activity stipends for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years (for example, coaches and site managers) and corrections to effective dates for some coaching contracts. The board approved multiple summer hires at specified hourly rates for custodial help, summer lunch program workers and bus drivers.
The meeting minutes also record several accepted resignations effective mostly Aug. 3, 2026, and other employee changes. Notably, Jeffrey Madden is listed as resigning from his role as Assistant Superintendent effective July 31, 2026. The board approved an unpaid leave for Kathryn Cline, Intervention Specialist at FIS, from Aug. 13 through Dec. 11, 2026.
The board’s personnel approvals were presented as part of the superintendent recommendations and consolidated under motion 26-046; no separate votes on individual hires were recorded in the minutes.
The board is scheduled to reconvene for future work sessions to set special session dates and to implement the approved staffing decisions as required by district hiring procedures.
