On the air-alert partnership, commissioners discussed membership levels and agreed to start at the green level (two alerts annually) with a plan to increase participation later if desired. Nancy Moldenhower described how the program lists partners and provides educational content for social-media sharing; Beverly M. Martin and others voiced strong support, citing local air-quality health concerns.
On grants, the commission agreed to use the mayor’s community grant funds as the match for an IDM recycling grant (the IDM program allows project requests from about $5,000 up to $12,000 and typically requires a 25 percent match). Tristan Boger moved to use the $3,000 mayoral grant as match and reported the application is due next week; staff will circulate the final application text to commissioners before submission.
Each motion was passed by voice vote with no opposing votes recorded. Commissioners emphasized outreach steps and follow-up tasks: monitoring social-media sharing for Drive Clean alerts, circulating letter text and EPA public-comment instructions for the coal-ash letters, and sharing the grant application draft among commissioners prior to submission.
