Huxley receives splash pad site drawings; council discusses skid loader purchase and CIP timing

Parks and Recreation Director Heather Dengler presented preliminary drawings for a proposed Huxley Splash Pad at the July 9 work session and answered questions from Mayor Dave Kuhn and council members. Dengler said the next step would be to approve a site plan before moving ahead with detailed design or procurement steps.
Street Superintendent Mat Kahler outlined plans to purchase a new skid loader and trailer that were scheduled in the capital improvement program (CIP) for FY23. Council members noted that an FY25 CIP had not yet been approved; Administrator David Haugland said the FY25 CIP would be prepared in late summer or early fall and asked whether the council preferred that a goal-setting session be outsourced or conducted in-house. Council members indicated a preference for an in-house session.
Dengler also reported that the Tree Board will meet July 15 to consider additional sites for a tree grant. She said the fitness center housed in the '3 C’s' building is being rebranded as 'Generations' to give it a separate identity.
No formal capital appropriation or procurement vote was recorded on July 9; the item remains at the work-session/discussion stage with site-plan approval listed as the next procedural step for the splash pad.
