Huxley — Several residents used the public-comment portion of the May 12 Huxley City Council meeting to press the council on neighborhood matters.
Cindy Drummond, a resident at 512 N. 2nd Ave, asked the council to reconsider installing sidewalks on her street. Mayor David Kuhn responded that the sidewalk matter had been presented at prior meetings and, in his view, the project timeline was sufficiently advanced that the requested change could not be accommodated at this stage.
Also during public comment, Brittany Grady (527 Preston) announced that the Farmers' Markets will be held every Thursday beginning June 4, with all but one market taking place in Railroad Park. A candidate for Story County Supervisor, Marty Chitty, attended to receive updates; he did not register a formal request. Dylan Kline of the Ames Regional Economic Alliance spoke in support of the council’s resolution backing Republic LLC’s workforce housing tax-incentive application.
The council's response directed staff to continue project scheduling and return the south Highway 69 trail extension to a work session in two weeks; no formal changes to sidewalk plans were made at the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
