Trustees reopened and closed a public hearing on the village capital budget and approved the one-year budget by unanimous vote.
Len Aubrey, chair of the budget committee, told trustees the fiscal-year budget is substantially larger than past years and that the four‑year capital plan approaches $75 million; he said about $28 million of the multiyear plan is devoted to flooding projects and that the village is highly dependent on grant funding to deliver that scope. Aubrey said the plan will require additional village staff and attention to timing and bonding costs.
Trustees emphasized the budget is a plan — not a lock — and described the importance of managing public expectations and sequencing projects based on available funding. The board voted to adopt the one-year capital budget (motion, second; recorded as 4 in favor).
The budget committee and staff will continue to refine the multi‑year plan, prioritize projects and monitor grant outcomes and bonding needs.
