At the April 9 meeting, the Health Department reported approvals and permitting activity across environmental health programs. New or newly-compliant food establishments include Bread Basket bakery (now open) and Ava's Pizza (which opened without a permit but is now in compliance). Staff said plans for Chick-fil-A and Raising Cane's have been approved and construction is underway. Baked Blessings Microbakery and AR Beauty (approved with restrictions after identifying unlicensed services) were also approved.
Department staff said they are processing mobile-vendor permits for spring and summer events (including Twin Flames and Kona Ice) and are coordinating food-vendor permitting for the Best of the North Shore event on August 13. Pool-permit letters have been issued and seasonal inspections will begin soon; letters to funeral directors have also been sent and applications are being returned.
Staff cautioned that several food establishments remain unpermitted and have been notified that non-compliance could lead to closure if not addressed. The board did not take enforcement action at the meeting but was alerted to ongoing compliance efforts and the limits of the online permitting system, which could not auto-import past-year data.
