At the April 9 Board of Health meeting, members reviewed two SAFE 2.0 surveys: a workforce survey due April 10 and a larger, 239-question performance survey to be completed by staff by April 30. Board members asked about the surveys’ purpose, how results will be used, and possible consequences for non-participation.
Director of Public Health Frank Giacalone said the surveys are part of the annual reporting requirement and acknowledged board concern that results could influence future resource allocation, training priorities or grant opportunities. To help ensure participation, Giacalone agreed to resend the workforce-survey link to the group and staff.
The board did not adopt a formal motion on the surveys but directed staff to encourage responses and to report back on any notable findings or participation shortfalls after surveys close. The outcome will determine whether the department pursues follow-up outreach or requests additional resources.
