Brett Fleischmann, the Vancouver School District's interim superintendent, told the Committee of the Whole on June 23 that there are no contracts meeting the board-approval threshold for the July 14 board meeting and reviewed routine agenda items ahead of his departure.
Fleischmann said the board approves policy while the superintendent and staff implement corresponding procedures, and he described planned procedural adjustments to align operations with policies passed in March and last month. "Following your action on the policy, there will be some corresponding adjustments required on the procedures to successfully implement those changes," he said.
The committee spent most of its time previewing items the full board will consider at its July meeting and hearing routine updates. Directors thanked Fleischmann for his service during his final Committee of the Whole meeting; Fleischmann replied that the year had been a learning experience and expressed appreciation for the board's support.
The board's next regular meeting is July 14; the district plans for the incoming superintendent to be sworn into office on July 1 and to appear at that July 14 meeting.
The Committee of the Whole adjourned at 5:36 p.m.
